Atharva Veda Gopala Tapani

New York, 2012
I composed this song in 2010 with words from a beautiful poem from Atharva Veda. I had the opportunity to play together with the formidable celestial music master Laraaji, former collaborator of Brian Eno and many other greats (and a laughter workshop leader too.) Laraaji’s website.

A great saint spoke to the sages and saints present about Lord Krishna as follows:
“I bow to Lord Krishna, who is the form of the universe, the creator, maintainer, and destroyer of the universe, the master of the universe, and the universe itself.”
"I bow to Lord Krishna, whose form is full of knowledge, whose form is full of supreme bliss, who is all-attractive, and who is the master of the gopis."
"I bow to Krishna, who possesses eyes like lotus flowers. I bow to Him, garlanded with lotuses. His navel a lotus. I bow to Him, the husband of the goddesses of fortune.”
"I bow to Lord Govinda, who looks very beautiful wearing a peacock feather upon His head. His intelligence sharp, and He the swan in the Manasa lake of the goddess of fortune's thoughts.”
"I bow to Krishna, who is the protector of the cows, fond of playing the flute, the crusher of Kaliya. He is fond of wandering here and there on the banks of the Yamuna and He is beautified by wearing swinging earrings."
"I bow again and again unto Shri Krishna, the protector of the surrendered souls. I bow to Him, the expert dancer garlanded with the gopi's lotus glances.”
"I bow to Sri Krishna, decorated with a golden necklace, charming, pure, the enemy of impurity, one without a second, the greatest."
"O Krishna, O husband of Rukmini, O enchanter of the gopis, O great guru of the universe, please rescue me, drowning in the ocean of repeated birth and death."
"O Keshava, O Narayana, O Govinda, O Janardana, O source of all transcendental bliss, O Lord who rescues the devotees from distress, O Madhava, please rescue me."
"O my dear Krishna, You are the friend of the distressed, the ocean of mercy, and the Lord of creation. You are the master of the cowherds and the lover of the gopis, especially Radharani. I bow to You."
